Yesterday's telegram, ire the Meat Company formed in London, should have read that it was promoted by Messrs Mclilwraith, McEachan, and Co. — not by the Hon. Mr MclUwraith, Premier of Queensland. The Messrs Sloan have been appointed j agents in Melbourne and Sydney. ADELAIDE, May 11. Three passengers by the Orient, which arrived, here yesterday, committed suicide on the voyage from Plymouth. Parliament was opened to-day by commission. Mr McMahon was. elected Speaker. Forty-four members were present, and five new members were sworn. Great scarcity of coal exists at present in Melbourne, almost amounting to a famine, owing to the strike of miners at Newcastle.
