VOLUNTEERS.
i *'; : f~nz "*7""* z^ Tf -f, \ \>; ■ Editor TiM)_gJ— Tn r ahswer-tb" -a 'letter signed " Justice," in a recent issue, I beg to state that " Justice " shows himsel perfectly ignorant upon the subject on which he writes. " Justice " states that he wishes to draw the attention of the "Volunteer authorities to what he is pleased to term a • riiost extraordinary course of action on t)ie part of one of the members who is taking round a subscription-list to raise funds to enable Mm to proceed to Nelson to shoot for prizes, &c, &c. Allow me to inform " Justice " that the Volunteer autho- , rities in this quarter were not only aware bf the courscof procedure, but have cracefully subscribed to the same. Furthermore, it distinctly stated upon the list which was handed to " Justice " that two members, pf the Volunteer corps would proceed to -Nelson, should sufficient funds accrue, and of which fact " Justice " was well aware. In conclusion, if " Justice< " is not in- . clined to " shell out " on v beb!alf of " shootists," he, at any rate^ might ha've 1 refrained from attempting to injure- -the fair, r and straightforward course which is being adopted to raise the needful whereby the honor of the Invercargill Volunteers may be sustained. — Yours, &c, Volunteer.
