(BY ELEOTRIO TELEGRAPH.) * / WELLitfGTOif, Feb. 7. Messrs Murray, Cameron & Co. received the following, message from their London agents by the Suez ' mail : — " London, 17th -'December. Fourth series sales for the year, which began on the 19th November, closed to-day. The total quantity available for sale was 1,727,000 bales ; the total quantity catalogued for sale, 166,606 bales; the total quantity held over, about 35,000 bales., Prices. at the M opening showed an average decline of ten 'per cent, on the rates; ruling in the latter part of the previous series, and for about ten days the market became weak. It was evident that the purchasing power of the home trade Was very, limited^' and that the mar* ket was : mainly ; supported vby Continental buyers, who have taken about 80,000 bales. Crossbred and . low scoured showed the greatest decline. In the former -there, has been no recovery,but as regards the latter the competition during the last ten days has been 1 stronger.
