J The tonnage loading on the berth at London, December 19, for India, China, and the Cape of Good Hope, amounted to 24,G12 tons,, and for for Australia and New Zealand to 30£335 tons. London, Dec. 20.^— Homeward-bound- ships continue to arrive slowly, and tonnage is in demand for, the" colonies and the JEast, both. irom London ahd the'eoal ports. Fifteen - hundred and one wrecks are reported for last.year, to date December 14. The Banares, from London, bound tb Otago, was delayed at the outset of the voyage by an ■- accidentin the river. She fouled the ship, Loch ' Shiel in the river, and received sufficient damage to cause her to put back. The following passengers are en route for Otago, per Shaw, Savillc, and Co.'s Rialto, from London: — Saloon: Messrs Whethered, Reed, Young, Steer. ' Second Cabin : ' Mrs and ' Mies Shaw,. Miss Evers, Messrs Perrin, Scott,-Mit-chell, Osborne, Sheard, Mr and Mr_ Hulse. Per Albion's Co.'s Wellington, from Greenock: -Mr ahd Mrs Sharp, Mrs and Miss Robertson, Rev. Mr Gordon and family,' Mrs Haswell, Rev, Rodgers, JLieut. Smith (R.N.), Messrs Thomson, Chisholm, and 330 immigrants. With reference te the fate of those on board the schooner Clyde, which was lost on the Tamutu Beach, last week, the following telegram explains . matters.. It .was ... supplied by the,' police, - and published in the Christchurch papers of the 4th inst.:— ".Captain Bishbpi : 5 seamen/cddl- and one passenger abandoned the schooner at 2 c olock on Saturday morning,- taking the boat. The schoner was then in the surf near the beach. They pulled* for. the Peninsula,; and landed in .rJLong Bay, south of VPeraki, at noon the same day.. They then started to walk over the range, and four of the crew reached Little River at 7 pirn., but the captain, two of theJcrew, and the passenger "got "lost in 'the range," and had to camp out all nightY They succeeded in reaching Little River at nod-Yon Sunday^ The captain and crew ; have gone to Tamutu to the schooner, and the' passenger (Mr John Bennett, of Oamaru, who is in ill-health) is staying at theForsyth Arms Hoteh JLittle.
