In the course of a recent bankruptcy examination at WeUington, the bankrupt made the foUowtoo- ohnr> m i~ s jjooubiUuu-. — -—z auia the goodwill of my house for LIOOO, and the stock for- LISOO more, to be paid in short ! dated biUs.- I have received about L2OOO of . it. My wife bought a vessel for .LIOOO. . I gave her LI 00 towards it, but I don't know where she got the other L9OO. I suppose it wag from her savings. She had money to the Savings Bank. I canot tell whether +he vessel was registered in Mrs Mcintosh's name. It was not settled on her. I did not bank the LIOOO. Mr Nathan had LIOO of it, and the rest I paid debts with. I never knew I was so much to debt as I am. I don't know what they did with so much drapery. I cannot say why Mrs Mcintosh did not pay the drapery bills, having L9OO in the Savings Bank. I sometimes went to her for money when I wanted it. I never had more than L 5 myself. Mr Nathan- used to "send down eveiy morning for aU the money I took. He said I was foolish to keep any money in the bank, and he would be my banker, so he -charged me 2^ per cent, for receiving my money, and 2^- for percent, for paying itaway. Going down south cost me LloO. I went to -look after another 'spec' I was not ' doing it flash.' " The question has to be decided by the Supreme Court as to who was entitled to these moneys — Mrs Mcintosh's creditors, or Mr Nathan's. Nervous old gentleman to watchmaker : I " No,none of them will do. I want a watch that won't go tick, tack, tick, tack, all "the I nightlong. I hate to hear a watch tick, for it keeps me awake." ' -Watchmaker : "Ah ! I see, sir. You want one of the 'silent watches ' of the night. I don't keep 'em."
