WASTE LANDS HOARD.

A meeting oi' the Board was held to-day Present : Messrs. Pearson (chairman), Dennistou, Pratt, Toshacu, and Kinross. A letter was read from John Harris requesting the Hoard to put up for sale section (i. I dock 2;?, Athol, ami requesting to know what would be the upset price, ami for permission io build before purchase. The Bonrd refused the application. A communication from the Under Secretary, Wellington, dated loth inst., was read intimating approval of the minutes of the Board, dated 80th December, 1878. to the effect the fee for the issue of any particular lease, license, or other instrument, or transfer thereof, should be 20s. A further communication was read from the Under Secretary intimating that section 29. block 2, Long wood District (Orermki goklficlds), had been declared open for sale. — Vide Gazette of 9th inst. A communication from the same department was also read intimating that allowances had been made to the following local bodies out of the £10,000 which was voted by the Legislature of last session on account of roads in deferred payment blocks disposed of prior to the Ist January. 1878, namely : — £12S0 to part Otago and part Southland, Southland County Council, and £110 to Wallace County. The £1280 was particularly to be for the deferred payment block on the west side of Mataura, and for block near Fortrosc. It was provided that the expenditure of these allowances by the local boards should be subject to the approval of the Land Board. Sections 476, 477, 478, 498, 499, 500, 501. 502, run 112, Hokonui district, having been proclaimed deferred payment blocks, it was resolved that the same should be declared open for sale on the 2Sth February next — the distance from Gore being inserted in the local advertisements. The Board then adjourned.
