MR CONYERS.

•Telegraphic bulletins concerning the condition of Mr Conyers were frequently dispatched from Gore yesterda} r , and were eagerly received and discussed in town. They were all favorable. The first stated that he was no worse, and the symptoms were on the whole encouraging, and then one dispatched at 12.30 p.m. by our correspondent uajd that he had passed, a very

restless night, but .was now improving, and the symptoms were more favorable. Still there was great danger. Early iii the afternoon came the welcome intelligence that he was recovering consciousness, and further another message announced that he was- quite conscious. This return of mental animation must we presume have been only temporary, for a message dispatched from Gore at 7.30 last night by our special correspondent said : " Dr Macaffer reports very little change has taken place in Mr Conyers. If anything- the symptoms still show further improvements ' but nothing decided. He is in a semi-con-scious state." A message later by two hours from another source was of much the same tenor, and all that skill and care combined can do to save him is being lavished in the attempt. Messrs Back and. A. D. Smith, of Christchurch, Angus, Werry, and others, Drs. Skae, Smith, Macaffer, and Murphy are in constant attendance in relays, and Mrs Conyers who, in nursing, will be a host in herself. Considering the severity of the injuries, we think it may be said that Mr Conyers has made good progress, and we trust that the news to-day will announce him out of danger.
