V.M.C.A. PICNIC.

The members of the Invercargill Young Men's Christian Association, accompanied by their friends, held a picnic at a convenient spot about a mile beyond the Makarewa. The party numbered about 250, and a special train was requisitioned for their conveyance. Every effort was made to promote the enjoyment of the party by the promoters of the excursion, and the refreshment department was not neglected. Games of all descriptions were heartily indulged in, and all that was requisite to enhance the enjoyment was more propitious weather. After lunch those present were addressed by the Rev. Mr Ross of Queenstown, the Rev. Mr Johnson, and the Rev. Mr. McNicol. The. party returned to InvercaTgill at an early hour in the evening, all feeling greatly gratified with the day's proceedings.
