DENEDIN MARKETS.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending 17th July, 1871, as follows :— Fat Cattle.—2ol head were yarded, the greater portion of which were good stores and medium quality a few only being really prime. Bullocks brought from £9 to £17 2s 6d; cows from 45810s to £12 17s 6d. We quote prime quality beef at 37b 6d per 1001 b; medium do, 32b 6d. Privately we have sold 40 head at market rates. Fat Calves. —Seven were penned, and were sold at fair prices. Fat Sheep.—A fair supply of 1961 was penned, consisting of cross-bra is and merinos mostly of good quality, and they were taken by the trade at about last week's rates. We sold 1189 crossbreds at from 13s 6d for light weights to 19s 6d, the latter price being for some really prime heavy weights from ths Seadown Estate, Canterbury. We quote mutton at fully 3id per lb. Store Sheep—We have no transactions to report for the past week. Store Cattle. —ln this class of stock there is little doing at present, partly on account of the late severe and unsettled state of the weather. We have several superior lots on bur hands to dispose of, and shall no doubt be able tb place them at satisfactory figures in the Course of the next few weeks. . Horses. —The demand for heavy draughts continues unabated. Good upstanding light hxruess horaes are also in demand, but light and inferior sorts are almost unsaleable. For onr sale on Saturday last there was a fair supply of aU classes including a lot of draught mares and geldings from the Henley It state, which sold at from £42 to £60 each. We quote first class draughts at from £55 to £65 ; medium £40 to £50 ; light £25 to £35 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £25 to £30 ; medium, £12 to £20 ; light and inferior, £3 to £10 Wool.—it our weekly sale on Monday last we disposed of 80 bales greasy wool at satisfactory prices. Sheepskins. —We catalogued 2702 skins for our weekly sale. For these there was spirited competition, and prices ruled fully equal to last week's rates. Butchers greenskins, half-breds, sold at from 3s 8d to 4s Id; meriaos 3s ld to 3s 7d j station shins up to 3s lOd. Hides. —Continue in good demand, and find ready aa lc at from 4d to 4£d per lb. Privately we have disposed of 56- at frem 15s to 25s each, or equal to above quotation. Tallow,—We did not offer any this week. Grain. —Wheat continues dull of eale,millers confining their purchases to really good samples of milling wheatswhich we quote at <rom 4s 3d to 4s 6d per bushel; medium and inferior quality, difficult to quit. Oats are in fair demand, prime milling commanding from 3s lOd to 3s lid; good feed, 3s 9d to 3s lOd.
