THE TIME OF DAY.

(to the editor, of the times.)

Sic, — There iB a want much felt by the working class in Invercargill — a want the Corporation can in a manner almost remedy. You are aware that this town is a little behind the times in not having a good timepiece, I mean a town-clock. That is the want, now for the remedy. There is a fire bell in this town, and I believe a pretty good one too. It is in the Corporation yard, so the Corporation will be at no extra expense if my suggestion be taken ; that is, that some one of the employees be instructed to toll the bell four times daily, say in the moi'ning at 8 o'clock, at 12 noon, and 1 o'clock, and 5 o'clock in the evening. Should the Corporation do so they will confer a great boon on the working men iv all parts of the town and neighborhood. — Tours &c,

J. Frost
