He has been drinking lately, and also was thwarted in love. He was prevented from killing himself by his sister, who was cut in the struggle ; neither was very seriously wounded. Gbahamstown, Saturday. The Eev. Mr Davis, of the Baptist Church, died to-day. The gold returns for the past week are about lOOOozs. Some considerable parcels have since been received. Sir George Grey was yesterday furnished ■with a copy of the Ohinemuri agreement, when it was found that it provides for agricultural leases. Steps are being taken towards adapting the existing regulations for the Thames to Ohinemuri. Napier, Saturday. The Hon. H, Eusoel v. Sealey question has been referred to a select committee to report on Wednesday. Mr Sbeehan has been engaged by the Provincial Council to watch the proceedings. CnmsTCHUEcn, Saturday. The total amount of the value of the city property this year is £150,620. With the usual rate of la in the pound, it will yield for general purposes £7531. The increase in value of property during the last twelve months is £37,G21. Hokitika, Saturday. A seam of coal has been found over the township of the special settlement at Jackson's Bay, but tine quantity is not yet ascertained. The settlement is progressing satisfactorily.
