THE PUBLIC BUILDINGS SITE.
A PARABLE. (TO THB EDITOR OT TH3 TIMES.) Sic, — Once upon a time two friends had a transaction in a piece of valuable building land. Amicus senior sold the land to Amicus junior, but he could not sign the conveyance until a certain document arrived from England. Meanwhile, Amicus junior, being anxious to go on with his buildin* operations, spoke to his friend on the subject, and was assured that he might proceed without fear — the land was his, and the conyeyance would be signed in due time. Junior, trusting in his friend's honor, commenced his building. But when the time for signing the conveyance came, Senior said ho had changed his mind. Ho was willing to convey the ground actually built on, and a few feet around it ; but, he meant to sell the rest to others, or build on it himself, and so build up his friend's windows. The public said that Senior was a rascal, but, as the conveyance had not been signed, the law could not touch him. Senior said, " That he had the law on his side." — I am, &c, Bona Fides.
