The 'Daily Times,' (Otago) of the 28th ult, reports : — The business done in the import markets today has been small, and demand for all kinds of merchandise light. Coastwise orders continue very limited, and up-country requirements are just now less than the average. For the next few days it is probable that trade will be comparatively quiet. In breadstuflV there is no alteration. Sales of Provincial and Californian flour are making at maintained prices, but sales very moderate. In liquids, transactions have been small. Scotch ales have been moved at rather lower rates; Machin's stout, quitted at lls 6d; and Martell's dark brandy, at 7s 9d, A small invoice of oilmen's stores quitted at a fair advance, and* a few grocers parcels of teaß and sugars. The ' Oamaru Times' of the 27th October, reports : — . There is no visible improvement in the state of the markets, although, as shearing times approaches, a renewal of activity is confidently looked for. In the grain market, the only transactions have been in oats, which show an upward tendency. This grain is now firm at 2s 6d, with indications of improvement.
