Oats are, . with difficulty, at maintained quotations, and no . other item in produce commands attention.' We , /note sales of timber, ex Tarquin, at full prices (particulars not transpiring), of galvanised fencing wire, at £35 per ton ; Tobaccos, Two . Seas at Is 4d,, and Talisman Is 6d ; and of some ' light parcels .of .congous and white crystals at maintained rates. . The • Oamaru Times' of 15th inst., reports : — The markets are -without change, and quotations undisturbed. • At Mr Shrimsii's sale on Friday, at Mr Carter's farm, Fapakaiq, 14 head of cattle, 5 horses, a number of farm implements, and a quantity of -sundries, were disposed of at satisfactory prices, the attendance being good, and the bidding spirited. Milch cows sold for from £12 to £13 ; steers, from £4 10s to £7 ; heiters, £7 ss ; draught horses, £12 ids to £34. At Messrs Royse,.Mudie. and Miller's sale, at Mr White's slaughter yards, there were plenty of sellers but no buyers; not a single lot was ■old. ;.i We regret to learn that one of our leading business firms has been compelled ■to call a meeting of creditors. The 'Timaru Herald' of the 11th inst. reports:— • Business remains quiet, without alteration in prices.
