The protracted winter must, however, be .now drawing to a close, and anticipations are entertained of a good demand shortly arising. Stocks are known to be getting light at the Lake and a few buyers have been in town, the harbinger* of our Spring trade. Flour is the only article which at present maintains its value, first class Adelaide being worth Ll9 in large bags, and L 2£ in small. Spirits and malt liquors are in very limited demand at rates below former quotations. Other arlicles have no fixed value at present. — Butter has been selling ns low a? lOd for old parcels, but really prime double rose Cork is worth Is 3d. Hams and bacon are not enquired for, and other articles of grocery are much neglected. For the quarter from Ist July to 30th September, the value of the imports at the port of Invereargill is estimated at the Custom House, at £184,053 — of the exports £1,941 10s. The exports were, with the exception of some bags of bones, wool. The Customs duties for tho satne period, wero £13,550 Is. sd.
