IT is notorions that whilst our population has been increasing with astonishing rapidity, the provision for its spiritual welfare has been all but stationary. There is at the present moment an urgent demand for at least four additional Presbyterian ministers. At the recent meeting of Presbytery, I brought our wants before their notice, and a plan for remedying them, which was sanctioned. This plan consists in raising a fund ij Southland for paying the passages of additional ministers for Southland, to be landed at the Bluff, and to officiate iv the first instance in our vacancies. I have been authorised to write home for three or four additional ministers. I believe suitable men will readily be procured from the various Presbyterian Churches; but it is indispensably necessary that we raise funds to bring them to our shores. This is the reason for my present appeal. The harvest truly is great and ever increasing ; let all who love the Lord Jesus, and the souls of men, contribute as God hath prospered them, and the work will be done at once. Mr Geisow haskindly consented to act as General Treosurer. District Collectors will be appointed, and no sums will be recorded but those that are paid to the Treasurer. 1 ANDREW H. STOBO.
