THE SOUTHLAND GOVERNMENT versus TEE DEVELOPMENT OF ITS RE-SOURCE-3. {To the Editor of the Inoercargill Times) Sir, — L consider it my duty, in tho absence ot my respected leader, Mr Garsuu, for a few days, to contradict the statements put forth by the Southland Government, namely — that no payable gold field exists in this Province. Sir, this is false, as Mr Carson and myself will open up two payable gold fields in this Province, if the Government will pay us £5000 upon the receipt of the first five thousand ounces of gold arriving from said discoveries. I am confidently informed that the present Government will place every obstacle in our way ; but I may tell them we have reported our discovery to the Auckland Government, and I have no doubt but that Mr ( 'arson will obtain from them the ju.-ilice of our claim, which has been denied by interesled parties here.
