TN'FORMATTON is requested respecting the name and address of a man who, on or about Monday, the 23rd of March last, wanted to purchase some flour at the tent of Joseph Smith, otherwise "Yorkey" (since murdered, 1 at Millar's Flat. The person sought, for enquired the price of flour, and was told thnt it was sold at tenpence a pound. He expressed himself ready to take ten or twelve pounds of it. The storcman went inside, as if to procure it, but turned rourd and said, (i "Will you not take a fifty pound bag," which the other declined to do. The storeinan then said he did not care about selling. Should this meet the eye of the man who wanted to buy flour on the day above mentioned at Millar's Flat, he is earnestly requested to forward his nnme and address to the Commissioner of Polico, Dunedin. without delav. IN Pursuance of the Provisions of an Act of the General Assemblv of New Zealand, intituled, " The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858." and of an Act intituled, "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," I, Andrew Jamieson Ellcs, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Waihopai, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a writ, bearing date the 26th day of May, 1863, issued under the hand of his Honor the Superintendent of Southland, an Election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of Southland for tbesaid electoral district, and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the house of Mr RoM.
