Note these points: 1, —National Prohibition became effective in the U.S.A. in January, 1920. 2. —The Volstead Law that makes the 18th (or Prohibition) Amendment effective can be modified or repealed any time by a simple majority in Congress. 3. Since 1920 the people have elected two new Congresses, i.e., in 1922 and in 1924. 4, All the time the liquor interests have been telling the people what a terrible thing Prohibition was—-just like the liquor interests here do. 5, —But in spite of that the people send up to Congress more and more “ dry ” members. 6. In 1924 16 avowed “wets” lost their sfeats, and not a single “dry” lost his. % 7.—Congress now consists of 435 representatives, of whom 319 are known “ drys,” 105 known “ wets,” and IT doubtful. Senate has 96 members of whom 72 are “dry.” Conigress is 75% dry, WOULD THAT HAPPEN IF ONE-TENTH OF WHAT THE LIQUOR TRAFFIC SAYS ABOUT THE U.S.A. WERE TRUE? The people of the U.S.A. are satisfied with their Prohibition law. We shall be satisfied with ours when we vote it—and we will make it a big success.
