PORT NICHOLSON REGATTA.
Per Press Association. WELLLINGTON, January 22. The anniversary regatta of the PortNicholson Yacht Club was held to-day m favourable weather. There was a northwest wind which varied slightly in power, j but was never more than moderately j strong. . Mucl\ interest was taken in the] meeting of the Auckland yacht Rainbowj and the Wellington yacht Waitangi. They| were the only two that competed in the. race for first class yachts. The Rainbowj sailed the course of twenty-seven knots in. 16min 12sec less time than the Waitangi, | Including her time allowance of 9min 5(1 sec. The Rainbow won by 26min llsec.! The first race for second class yachts was won by the Atalanta, and second race by the Mahina. In the first race for half raters, the Rum was the winner, and the Maroro won the second race. The large entry of second class yachts was the feature of the regatta. - !
