The total fall for the year at Orari Gorge was 47.36 in. At Strathallan the heaviest fall of rain for last month was on the 15th when .95in fell. At Kingsdown the average for December is 1.86 in. During the year rain fell on 109 days total 37.07in.,0r 9.5 in. above the average of 13 years,coming close to 1887 when we had an excess of wet 38.16 in. The leastrain fellinlßß9,l6.o4in.MrSterricker adds that the greatest heat in December was on the27th.9o deg, in, the shade. Mr D. H. Gillingham writes that in December 1898 the fall was P 94 in. on 12 days. The total fall for last year was 27.23 in. falling on 118 days. The driest months were June and October, during each of which the fall was only .35 in. ; and the wettest months was March with 4.08 in. In 1898 the total fall was 28.35 in. on 123 days.
