CRICKET.
A match between the Waimate and Kurow clubs was played at Victoria Park, Waimate, on Monday last, and resulted in an easy win for the local club. The weather was squally, but no rain fell, to interfere with the match. There was a fair attendance throughout the day, and afternoon tea was given by Mrs Hamilton. Kurow knocked up 55 runs in their first innings (Pockin 24, McLeod 13) and 55 for 4 wickets in their second innings (Garforth 25, Borton 13). Waimate’s first innings totalled 168 ('Studholme not out 67, Goldstone 25, Evans 17, Francis 12, Hamilton 11, and extras” 21), The most effective bowlers for Waimate were Goldstone, who took 4 wickets for 28 runs in 13 overs, and Studholme tcck 3 wickets for 14 runs in 13 overs. For Kurow, McLeod took 4 wickets for 23 runs in 11 overs, Wain 3 pickets for 31 runs in 8 overs, and Baskett 2 wickets for 30 runs in 13 overs.
