Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Per Press Association. Shanghai, June 6. The German gunboat Itlis bombarded and silenced the Chinese fort at Hove, because the authorities prevented the departure of a steamer carrying Fang Clung, President of the Formosa Republic. The steamer afterwards proceeded on her way to the town of Taipehafa, in Formosa, where the powder magazine was set fire to and exploded, killing ninety persons.
