GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

The monthly-meeting of the Board was held on Monday last, there being present Messrs F. 11. Flatman (chairman), W. Deßenzy, J. Kelland, A, Metcalf, and K. Brophy. The following tenders for works were acceptedWContract No. 435 —Eartlrwork at Barker’s Gully, Raukapuka, T. Lord & Co., £l6 Bs. No. 436—For cocksfoot seed on roads and reserves, Edwin Bull, £3 2s 6d. No. 437—For ' 200 yards shingle, Taylor’s road, Raukapuka Downs, D. Gregan, £34‘ 10s. No. 440—formation, fords, etc., Sheep Dip Road, Beautiful Valley, F. Borrell, £2l. The following were accepted under the co-operative system for settlers on the Orari Village Settlement and reserve 389:—N0. 338—440 yards shingle, Railway Road, reserve 389. Nos. 439 360 yards of shingle, railway x'pad, reserve 389. The tenders were decided by lot. No. 438, £22—Batty and,O’Neil. No. 439, £18 —Buckley and O’Connor. The following correspondence was dealt with:—

From Mr J. Bray, offering shingle out of section 22540, at 4d per yard, under 500 yards.—Accepted ; the Board to use the gravel when required. .(• : From Mr G. H. : Patrick, offering 9s per annum for a 2-aere reserve near his farm at Rangitata, and agreeing to keep the gorse fence in good order. —It was decided to accept the offer after this year’s cocksfoot seed is cut and cleared away. From Mr J. W. Jones, Kakahu bush, asking that in the event of Mr Munro neglecting to correspond, he would take steps to lay off the road through his property.—The clerk is to write tp Mr Munro. - From Mr John Harrison, Orari, applying for a spare piece of land in Cooper street.—Mr Harrison is to be informed that he should make his application through the Land Board. From Mr C. G, Tripp, applying for road between sections 16715 and 15117 to be closed as far as the Waihi river on the north side only.—Deferred for further consideration. .

From Mr H. Baughen, asking for recompense for damage sustained through the board’s horse breaking through the fence into his garden. He estimated the damage at £l. . - From the stock inspector, enclosing notice to destroy rabbits on part section 19206.—The inspector, is to be informed that he should have sent the notice to the County Council. From the Land and Survey Department, stating that £5 8s 6d had been paid to the Board’s credit, being accrued “ thirds” for period ending November Ist, 1894, as per schedule enclosed. From the Temuka Road Board, agreeing to share cost of making a level crossing'at Orari. The, overseer’s, report having been read, it was decided that Lyman’s road be done by next Board day ; that a bridge at Peckham’s crossing was too expensive to entertain,; work on Blackler’s road to be done if the settlers- were willing; Mr Batty to be paid 6s for work done.

Mr Studholme interviewed the Board in 'reference to diversion of road _as asked for by Mr Jones, and requesting that he might erect a gate thereon adjoining his property. He was willing to exchange land for the road if the request be granted.—lt;, decided that the members of „ the Board meet at Kakahu and inspect the spot. Accounts .amounting to £194 15s lid Were passed for payment, and the meeting tenninated.
