FOOTBALL.
[to the editor.] Sie—l would like to ask through your columns why the Union helection Committee omitted Murdoch’s name from the representative team chosen to play ogiinet Oamaru on Thursday next. X think the majority of footballers will admit that bo is one of the best, if not the beat, half back in the district. His play on Thursday last, with his good collaring, quick and sure pass* leg, and general smartness, as shown by bis potted goal in the first spell, entitled him to more consideration at the hands of the Selection Committee, than to be placed among the emergencies. There are other alterations which could be made in the team with ad vantage. Hoping the Rugby Union will sea to this, I am, efc, FtOTBAIi. Timaru, August 26tb.
