(By Telegraph.) University College at WellingtonWELLINGTON. August 15. The deputation which is to wait on the Government to urge the establishment of a university college at Wellington will suggest that the ministerial residence, Tinakori Road, which was in the occupation of the late Mr Hallanoe until his death, bo used for a university until a building can be erected. The Government will also be urged to grant an endowment of land. Control of Streets* The general committee recommend the City Council to resist the Government’s claim to control streets and to briug a test case in the Supreme Court. Religious Education* A meeting of Protestant clergymen, under the presidency of Bishop Stuart, agreed to recommend the adoption of the London Board’s plan of religious education in schools. Inquest* CHRISTCHURCH, August 15.

At the inquest on the body of George Renner, who met his death on t unday, by falling off the New Brighton tram, a verdict was returned of accidental death. No blame was attached to anyone. The Harper Bank uptcy* Summonses have been issued at tbe instance of the Official Assignee under tbe penal clauses of the Bankruptcy Act against the members of tbe late firm of Harper and Co., solicitors.
