Lieutenant Pa ary, writing from Newfound* land, etated that the sealing steamer Falcon was to be ready to sail about June 16th, and the expedition will take (he same route as was adopted in 1891, when the Kite went by way of Baffin's Bay into Smith's Sound, and thence to MoOormiok Bay. Here the winter quarters will be established near the site chosen during the former expedition. The present undertaking will occupy at least two years, and the party will include Lieutenant Peary and Dr F. A. Cook, surgeon of the former expeditions According to the Chicago Herald, Professor darner, who went out to Africa to study monkey : language, has bad extraordinary success. “I am safe on the coast," writes Professor darner, “just reckoning with quinine, the proud professor of a chimpanzee that can say, ‘Tenakoe Fakeha,’ which is you know, the Maori for * good day stranger a gorilla that knows 20 words of Fijian, and a female ourang*outang (hat has picked up ‘Donner und blitzen * from my derm an valet, and has, judging from her actions, quite fallen in love with him. I have also got written down, which is more important, nearly SO6 monkey words. Here are a few, apelled phonetically, ‘' Aohru,' meaning aun, fire, warmth, eto; * kukoba,' meaning water, rain, cold, and, apparently, anything disagreeable ; * goshku,' meaning food, (he. aot of eating. You will see from this that it is a very primitive language. There are, perhaps, not more than twenty or thirty words in it that I have not already got, so that now iny task is prw tioally completed."
