Mount Feel Road Board.

A meeting of this Board was held on Friday, July 2’. t. Members present: Messrs O. G. Tripp (in tbe chair), B. Maokay, and B. Thaw. The Hon J. B- A- Ackland wrote asking for leave of absence during tbe sitting of the Legislative Council- —GrantedMr D. MoMaster wrote asking the Board to improve his ford- —To be done when the river is low. Mr A. 0. Pringle wrote asking for certain information on Bead Board matters.-—The clerk to supply the iuformasion asked for. Mr B. McMillan wrote asking tbe board to shingle part of bis road. —Mr Thew and the overseer. to make arrangements to have the work dune. The clerk Mackenzie County Council wrote enclosing cheque for £l2 7s 6d, being half cost of footbridge over South Opuha. Mr G. T. Maester offered to lease reserve 1902.—ihe board agreed to let same on certain conditions.

A petition from some of the residents of the village asked for a few loads of gravel on the private lane to the Post Office. —X'he board will do the work if tbe residents pay the cost.

Mr Mackay brought forward a motion as follows “ That the Board at its next meeting strike a rate of one half-penny in the £ on all rateable propery in the Mount Peel Boad District, such rate to be as follows ; one farthing general rate, yi harbour board, and id charitable ain and hospital.” Mr Mackay proposed and Mr Thew secondedjand it was carried— “That this Board is of opinion that the proposed Noxious Weeds Act, as at present drafted, is quite unworkable."

The clerk was instructed to send gorse notices to owners where gorse wr.s growing on the roads.

Tbe clerk reported that the accounts and balance sheet had been audited and parsed as correct.

The pay sheet was passed for payment for £69 12s 4d.
