Saturday’s game was the best the New Zealanders have yet played. The passing of the whole team was very tine. Wynyard played a great game, but all the other backs showed much dash and were very safe. Butland and Baylny did some passing of the highest order. Cockroft and McKenzie were the most prominent of the forwards, but all were seen at their best.

1 he Rugby Union gave to-day’s gate money matches to the ladies’ Benevolent Society. There was a large attendance to witness the games.
DUNEDIN, July 24
The Otago Daily Times , presumably writing authoratatively, says that nothing is likely to coma of the proposed combined v. New Zealand match, as apart from a number of other objections, the time available is much too short to permit of a representative Otago and Canterbury team being got together.
