down, deposed that Rear-Admiral Mark ham directed the starboard engine threequarter speed astern. The engineer confirmed this statement. A midshipman declared that the Rear-Admiral ordered the telegraph of the port engine ** Full speed astern.” Captain Acland endorsed RearAdmiral Markham’s reading of the turning signal.
