WELLINGTON, July 21.

Mr Martin, B M., and two Justices of the Peace were engaged from 10 o'clock until 4.50 this afternoon investigating the charge of murder preferred against Louis Albert San* derson in connection with the shooting of James Spreat at their residence, Pitie street, on Bth July. The evidence was the same as that adduced at the inqnest, and in discharge ing the accused, the magistrate said that he considered there had . been provocation, and that Sanderson had only fired at deceased in self-defence, and when he saw eleaps impossible.
