CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The following is the Christchurch Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, July 4th, 1890: . ~ 1 Since last writing the weather has been cold with hard frosts. Nothing like the usual rainfall has been recorded and farmers still want a thoroughly soaking [rain. Wheat remains at last quotations, at which figure some large transactions for export have taken place ; small lines are taken by local millers principally. Oats arc difficult to move; at present price it can hardly fail to prove a remunerative business to buy with the view of holding over, and small transactions have come under notice with this object. Barley—A few parcels of prime have changed hands, but medium and feed qualities are entirely negleoted._ Beans are taken for export when the sample is bright and not too much broken. Peas—During the week a fair enquiry has been manifest both for feed and hand-threshed Prussian Blues, consequently stocks have been somewhat reduced. Grass Seed—The enquiry noted for ryegrass last week still continues and the same remark applies to cocksfoot. Potatoes—The tuber has seen fair sales when immediate delivery could be given. Thera are large stocks and growers would do well to consider this when deciding what to do with their crop. There is a good enquiry for early potatoes (round) for seed purposes.
