(Bv Telegraph.) Accident or Suicide ? AUCKLAND, July 5. William Wallace, aged 23, a resident of Ihumata, Mangare, died suddenly in a paddock at 10 p ra. yesterday. There are traces of carbolic acid in his mouth. Waitara Freezing Works, It transpires that the Waitara freezing wore not purchased by Nelson Bros., but by three private gentlemen, one being an Aucklander and another a resident of Taranaki. The price was £5500. The buyers have a guarantee of sixty or seventy thousand sheep or an eqivalent in beef annually, and they will ship direct from Waitara in same way as is done at Napier, Killed in a Gravel Pit. The finance committee intend to confer with Mr Purser. The scheme was well received as the companies are now charging £4 per cent in town, and the public are becoming impatient of the burden.
Tramway Conversion. INVERCARGILL, Jui/sr 5
A movement is on foot to get the Forest Hill tramway converted into a railway in view of the impetus it would give to setttlement and the coal mining industry. Southland Farming. The supply of winter feed for stock is exceedingly plentiful. The turnip crop is the best ever obtoined. and there is no likelihood of a shortness before the spring feed comes on. A considerable quantity of oats remains unthreshod, and in many cases oats are being used to fatten sheep. At ruling prices the now departure promises .to be successful.
