A DISPUTE ON THE WHARF.

A slight dispute occurred to-day respecting wharf work. Tho ship Abercarne prepared to discharge her ballast, 600 tons, with her own crew. The wharf labourers gave notice that if the crew discharged the ballast they would refuse to empty the trucks, and also to load the vessel. They argued that in the loading of grain ships they have much broken time owing to cargo not coming to baud promptly, and that as the shovelling of ballast is a continuous job they should have this work to make up the lost time in stowing cargo. They also say that it is not sailors work anyway, and the crew should not be asked to do it. Ihe master and agent gave way, and the work was commenced after the dinner hour. The wharf labourers claim to have thns asserted, once for all, a principle, and that henceforth crews will not be allowed to discharge ballast.
