St James Gazette publishes a forecast of the basis (011 which it has reason to believe the dispute between England and Germany will be settled. The British claims in Uganda and to the “ Stevenson Road ” connecting Lakes Nyaasa to Tanganyika will be recognised, and in return Germany will be allowed to extend her boundaries inland to the confines of the Congo Free State, giving Britain a free trade route to Lakes Victoria Nyanzaand Tanganyika. The treaties arranged by Dr Peters with the King of Uganda will bo disavowed, IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT. With a view to overcome obstruction to the Tithes, Irish Land Purchase, and Local Government Bills, the Government will propose that the House shall take them up next session at the stage they have reached by the end of the present session.
