THE AUCKLAND WINTER MEETING. (By Telegraph, l AUCKLAND, June 8, The Auckland Winter Meeting was held to-day. There was fine weather, and about 2000 people were present. Auckland and Orangeman were (ho favourites. Parnell led for half a mile, when Jenny toot the lead going up hill and was never afterwards headed. She had two lengths advantage of Parnell at the water jump opposite the stand ; Orangeman fifteen lengths away third, and Orlando, Auckland, and Kangaroo next in the order named. These were the positions until at the stone wall at the bottom of the hill the second time round Parnell fell leaving Jenny with a fifteen lengths lead of Orangeman. Passing the stand Auckland began to improve his position and was second as they filed round the hack of the course, but Jenny could not be caught, and coming down hill and into the straight with a thirty lengths’ lead she won by that distance.
