THE NEW PLYMOUTH MURDER.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Juke 6,
The Justices before wham Mahi Kai is charged with the murder of Maloney, said on opening the court, that they understood the inquest lasted upwards of six weeks and they hoped the present inquiry would be shortened. The Crown Prosecutor said he would shorten the case as much as possible, but he found it necessary to call forty-three witnesses. Mr Samuel, who defended accused, said under the circumstances ho would do nothing to delay the proceedings. Two witnesses occupied the court all yesterday. The witnesses tin's morning were Constable Scully and Inspector Pardy, and George Carnell, who is now in the box. Nothing fresh hks been yet brought forward.
