An important case has arisen in connection with the immigration laws. Two girls having been arrested here for leaving Queensland within six months of their arrival in the latter colony from Home, this afternoon the question was raised in the House, and it was said that the arrest ' was a disgrace to free Australians. Sir Henry Parkes, in replying, said Government could adopt no other course in the matter without being unneighbourly to Queensland, and there the matter ended.

In the football match against Daylesford, on Saturday afternoon, the Maoris won by two goals four behinds to one goal five behinds. (Received 10 p.m., June 10th.) CABLE REPAIRING. Svdney, June 10. The cable repairing steamer Sherrard Osborne leaves here immediately for the purpose of overhauling the AustralianNew Zealand cable. A weak spot exists in the cable. THE FIJIAN ENQUIRY. Captain Fielding and Mr Hurley, second officer of the wrecked steamer Fijian, have had their certificates suspended for six months by the Marine Board. VOTE OF CONFIDENCE.
Mr R. H. Levien, solicitor, who resigned his seat in the Assembly on Ist Juno, in consequence of being suspended by the court for contravening the Attorneys Act in allowing his managing clerk to receive percentage profit, has been re-elected for Tamworth without opposition.
(Received 1 a.m., June 11th.) COMMERCIAL, Sydney, June 10. Business in breadstuff's is languishing owing to the market being flooded with Now Zealand and Californian wheat. The fact that three more cargoes are daily expected does not help to improve the tone of the market. The highest quotations are as follows :—New Zealand Tuscan 4s 7d, Californian considerably lower though 4s Od is said to have been touched for small lines of the best samples.
