Bootmakers Locked Out.
THE UFION MENACED. (By Telegraph.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. A large meeting of bootmaker, ’ operatives has just been held at which it was decided in consequence of Messrs Toomer Bros.’ refusing to employ members of the Union any longer that the men if iocked out go out on strike at federation pay and that Messrs Toomer Bros, be notified that their action having brought this about they be compelled to pay all the expenses of Hie strike. The meeting was very unanimous in condemning the action of Toomer Bros, in taking the opportunity afforded them by Messrs Lightband, Allan, and Co. closing their works.
