THIS DAY. (Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ) (Per Press association.) (Received 12.25 p.tn., Juno 7th.) SYDNEY’S BREAD SUPPLY. Sydney, Juno 7. Bread stuffs have been received during the week as follows :—433 tons of flour from Victoria and South Australia ; 780 tons of flour and 1140 tons of wheat from New Zealand ; 1200 tons of wheat from India. WATER-GAS. The practical uses of the now water-gas light have been successfully demonstrated here. It is understood the light will shortly be introduced into New Zealand, where it is expected to be largely used in. lighting districts where ordinary gas is not obtainable. Tho promoters in their prospectus undertake to make the gas at four-pence per 1000 feet. GOOD FOR TRADE. Baying for New Zealand is very brisk, in consequence of the competition between the two steamship Omnpauieq which enables the foreign buyer to do business advantageously in Sydney markets.
SHIPPING. Brisbane, June 7. Arrived—Janet Nicoll from Lyttelton. Newcastle, June 7. ’ Sailed—Tckapo for Lyttelton. ACQUITTED. Adelaide, J uno 7. Bonay, who on the 23rd April was arrested on a charge of beating his wife to death, has been acquitted.
