At the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Temuka, yesterday, Messrs Talbot and Q-uild presided. One unimportant civil case came on for hearing, and was adjourned for a week by consent of the plaintiff.
The annual meeting of the Makikihi Licensing Committee was held in the schoolhouse, Makikihi, on Saturday last. There wore present Messrs Hardie, Carter, and S, Rodgers. Mr Hardio and Mr Rodgers were proposed for the chairmanship, both declined, and Mr Carter was then elected chairman. The quarterly report of the inspector was read and considered satisfactory. The application of Mr A. Cowie for renewal of his publican’s license for the Makikihi Hotel was granted. The meeting fixed the conditional license fee at 10s per day, and thejmeeting then terminated.
