THIS DAY. (Per Electric Telegraph oops right. ) (Per Press Association.) [Delayed in Transmission]. (Received 10.35 a.m., June Ist.) FASHIONABLE MARRIAGE. London, May 31. The eldest son of the Hon. W. J. M. Larnach, C.M.G., is to be married on the 29th June to a daughter of the Earl of Cork and Orrery. SHIP MISSING. The ship Suakim, bound from Brisbane to Wilmington,has been posted at Lloyd’s as missing.
FISHERIES DISPUTE. In the House of Commons, Sir Jas. Ferguson, replying to a question, said that Her Majesty’s Government would await despatches from Sic Julian Pauncefote, British Ambassador at Washington, in reference to disputes which have arisen over the seal fisheries in the Behring Sea, before taking any action in the matter. COMMERCIAL. The tone of the tallow market is firm ; best mutton has risen and is now quoted at 29s to 29s fid ; best beef, 27s to 27s 6d. German beet sugar is improving, and is offered at 23s 3d.
