THE PARNELL COMMISSION

In the course of his examination ho stated that the league had averted famine and civil war in Ireland. Ho declared that Michael Davitt had vehemently denounced the outrages committed in the county of Mayo, but had said that boycotting was only a weapon in the hands of the people, and that be was persuaded that unconstitutional action would be madness. He had undertaken to conduct the united Ireland cause constitutionally.
