There were no arrivals, at or departures from this port to-day. - The schooner Awarua at the Moody wharf, has now pretty well all her cargo of casks on board, and is expected to get away to-morrow morning. The schooner Spray was, up to last Wednesday, still detained in Napier owing to boisterous weather. She was, however, expected to got away that day. The schooner Lily left the breastwork about noon (at Napier on Friday last) for Lyttelton with a load of timber. She went out with the ebb tide, but on getting as far as the bar she got into diffiulties, as a nasty sea was running which sent the schooner towards the Rangatirabank. Here the seas commenced to run over her, and the crew had to take refuge in the rigging. Both anchors were down and held her well, but as the seas washed over her it looked as if she were doomed to a wreck. At this moment she hauled up signals for a steamer’s assistance, and the Ahuriri promptly went out and towed the schooner out of danger. If the Ahuriri had not done so there can be no doubt that the schooner would have become a total wreck. The owners of the Ahuriri, it is understood, intend claiming salvage. It may be mentioned that the Lily never takes the services of a pilot when going out or coming in.— Hawke’» Bay Herald. (By Telegraph.) PORT CHALMERS. . ARRIVED. May 18 —Beautiful Star, from Oamaru.
