BLENHEIM, May 18.
S. J. MacAUster, land agent, report tho sale of two blocks of land in the Omaka district at £l4 per acre. Good average agricultural land in this district has now an upward tendency and is being increasingly applied for. Political NewsDUNEDIN, May 18. Mr Valentine advocates tho appointment of a Minister of Agriculture. The Protection League suggests June sth for a conference at Christchurch, Political Appointment. WELLINGTON, May 18. The Government intend to combine the Office Clerk to the Executive Council with some of those already in existence, as there is not enough work for one man. No appointment has yet been made. Glove Fight. The Mayor objects to Laing and Smith fighting hero, but the police at present see no ground for interference. They consider it only a glove contest and not a prize fight.
