Sydney, May IS. Tiie Government have taken the opinion of counsel with regard to the alleged misappropriation of the funds of the Casual Labour Board by Mr John Davies, the chairman, and find that by reason of his office he is not amenable to the law under which a prosecution could be sustained.

The agents of the Orient Steamslvp Company and the Union Bank authorities are of opinion that the 5000 sovereigns were abstracted from the shipment of 50,000 sovereigns, and that the robbery was committed before the Iberia left Australian waters.
