Settlement in Hawke’s Bay

NAPIER, May 15,

At a meeting of the Land Board to-day, the Ohief Commissioner said tho revenue for the past year was £15,000. 111,000 acres had been disposed of, being 40,000 more than last year. There was hardly a piece of Crown h»nd in tho district not enquired for.

They assert that sufficient search is not made at the deeds office as as to who is tho owner of the land. They ask that a month elapse between the issue of the summons and the hearing, and the search in the deeds office be made by the local body and notice to bo sent to the owners. New Palace Cars. WELLINGTON, May 15. A patent has been granted for Cobb and Cos. Palace Cars. The application has been before the patent office for months, end postponed waiting the result of the recent trial. Costa were given against the opponents. A syndicate has been formed to buy the patent. ______________
