WAlMATE— Thursday, May 10th. (Before IT. A. Stratford, Esq., 8.M.) DOG TAX CASES. Alexander Chapman was charged with keeping nine unregistered dogs. This case had been adjourned at last sitting of the court, on tho application of defendant, to produce receipts for dog tax paid to the collector for the Waitaki County, where defendant had been in the habit of working the dogs, On production of the receipts the case was dismissed. E. Einlavson was fined 5s and 10s costs for having one unregistered dog. R. Boss for three unregistered dogs was fined 15s and 19s costs. Q-. Monkley and William Collins, were summoned by tho collector for having unregistered dogs, but both cases were dismissed as the prosecutor was unable to prove the dogs were in defendants’ possession at the time mentioned in tho information. STRAY STOCK. Isaac Cordner was fined 2s and costs 7s for allowing hia cow to wander on tho borough streets. John Flaherty was fined Is for a similar offence. DRUNKENNESS. Martin Shea for being drunk was fined 5s or 8 hours’ imprisonment j for using obscene language in a public place 5 days’ imprisonment, and for wilful damage to glasses etc in the bar of tho Waimato Hotel, was fined 10s and 5s damages, or in default |3 days’ imprisonment. OiVIL. The only civil case heard was that of Edmund and Mackerras v. Turner, claim £6 4s Od, Mr Hamilton for plaintiffs’. Judgment by default for amount claimed and £lO9 0d costa.
