Temuka Town Board.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Town Board was held on Wednesday evening. Present—Messrs Gray (chairman), Blyth, Clinch, and Mason. Correspondence was received : From Mr Monahan, the contractor for the asphalting, requesting payment of the balance of his contract, £2O 13s 6d, and the deposit £3 3s, and intimating his willingness to keep the paths in order for three months free of charge. The amount was accordingly passed. From the Property Tax Commissioner, asking for a copy of the resolution levying the rate..

Replied to. From Messrs Hayhurst and Co., requesting permission to erect three crossings in front of their grain store. —Granted on the usual terms.

From the General Survey Office, forwarding maps of the Canterbury runs, with a request that they might be publicly exhibited. From the Geraldine County Council, requesting that the half of the board’s share towards the hospital and charitable aid fund, amounting to £ll Is Bd, might be remitted on or before June Ist.

From the same, enclosing form to be filled up, showing the receipts and expenditure for the year ending 31st March, 1899. Tenders were received for the ordinary labour of the board for six months, and the tender of Mr J. McGrath, £25 17s fid, was accepted. The overseer’s and health officer’s report was read and considered satisfactory. The clerk submitted a statement of the probable receipts and expenditure for the year, and a list of the unpaid rates and rents. It was decided that the latter should be collected without delay. The clerk received authority to deal with

persons offending against the Public Health Act, and was instructed to notify them of the infringement previously to taking action. Accounts amounting to £4O 13s 9d, inclusive of the balance due for asphalting, were passed for payment. The board then rose. i ■mi
