TlMAEU—Thursday, April 25. ' (Before Captain Sutter, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS, Peter Smith, against whom was recorded a recent conviction, was fined ss. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Wm. Aldridge pleaded guilty to being drunk in the Main Road yesterday, bub pleaded ignorance of a charge of using obscene language while in the lock up, so as to bo heard in a public place. He “ was not given to that kind of language.” Two witnesses proved the utterance of the language charged, in a very large tone of voice, so that people heard io to some distance. There was a long list of previous convictions against the accused, of drunkenness, vagrancy and one of larceny. He was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment with hard labour.
